Friday, July 2 - Split-Movartiska 14,000
After spending a day in Split, dedicated to cleaning up the boat, filling water tanks etc ... We leave to a small cove that is called Movartiska . It is situated on Ciovo island, about 10 miles northwest of Split.
The wind being contrary, we will do 14 miles to reach this small bay surrounded by houses most of which are apartments.
We anchored in 10 meters on sand bottom at this point and the anchor eighth soon ... 50 meters of chain place for a serene anchorage. Algieba is the only boat at anchor, only one other boat (Czech crew) come for a night ...
The place, if not wild, is very quiet and we'll spend three nights. The island is narrow at this point and it does not take long walk to get to the other side overlooking the city of Trogir.
This side of the island is very quiet, there are many " beaches "of gravel with noisy bars and thousands of people.
Monday, July 5 - Movarstika - Vinisce - 8000 Short
navigation to reach the Bay Vinisce and return to the mainland. Winds right now are to the west in the afternoon and North East night so we are looking cracks open in the south, it is to the southeast and is perfect for us especially as the can be wet by 4 or 5 meters, which is not the norm in the region.
One boat is at anchor. At the bottom of the bay lies the small village of Vinisce, one can see old houses, but here also flourished New Construction for hire. Croatia sacrificed to mass tourism and the need is growing ... The Germans are guests here of course but there are plenty of Poles, Czechs and Hungarians too few.
As we walked into the hillside in the rear of the village, however, we admired the old houses with their pretty gardens surrounded by stone walls.
We also climbed under a blazing sun and a stony path, atop a hill overlooking the bay to admire a beautiful landscape, overlooking the islands of the other side. We recorded the wilderness, the sages, rosemary, thyme, cysts, English broom etc. ...
The next day we find a new path on the north side, there is absolutely no one ... neither men nor animals ... the many olive groves bounded by stone walls are left in the distance, in places there traces of fire. However the landscape made of mountains and sea with all the islands, is superb.
It seems that here, the Croats are a little less surly. They say hello and easier we can even exchange a few words in English.
the second day, the number of boats at anchor begins to rise ... and the third is more than 20 boats ... Most rental. We identified some wet anyhow, it's summer!
Thursday, July 8-Vinisce - Stipanska (Island Brac) - 17,000
The anchor is raised in the late morning to enjoy the breeze from the west. This is the rendezvous but lose momentum just before arriving. We still end up sailing in light airs all. A boat
forcing the Englishman to the motor to pass us and go before us in the creek Stipanska! We let him ...
This loop, located on the west coast of Brac is tiny and narrow, there are several boats already installed. We will fully anchored in the bottom and anchored by less than 3 meters on sand bottom, then with the schedule, I will carry 2 mooring lines ashore. Algieba is so snug and this is really very sheltered bay and the breeze from the west in the afternoon and the northeast wind at night.
We are quiet and green of pine trees in a wonderful light and lulled by the chirping of cicadas. The water is crystal clear and swimming is fun ...
Late afternoon we take a path that winds through the forest and leads us to another bay where there is a huge camping half-abandoned.
Here the olives are kept very clean and the roads ...
We remain a second day in this enchanting and tranquil and we'll walk, always sometimes steep paths on the northern island in a small town cute (Sutivan), distant about 5 miles.
Here, we find civilization and the tourists as holiday complexes are installed.
Saturday, July 10 - Stipanska - Vrboska (island of Hvar) - 22,000
We leave with regret our little cove to make us on the north coast of the island of Hvar. It will be a beautiful navigation with steady wind, primarily in close, then the breeze from the west at 25 knots and amount urging us to look good to Vrboska where we take a mooring in a large bay at the entrance.
The breeze, very virulent today, encourages us not to leave the boat.
We stay here the next day, the village located at the bottom of a fjord is very cute, we say that the winter it must be lost (500 inhabitants), a fortified church was built in the fifteenth century, after multiple invasions suffered by the population.
Monday, July 12-Vrboska - Vis (Island Vis) – 39 milles
Cependant, en se closer to shore, we find a good place and we anchor our anchor by 9 feet on grass and sand bottom.
few minutes later, a sailboat charter, with a dozen young people on board, almost wets our anchor ... We try to tell them that this is not good ... They do not care! Fortunately, the guys wearing just tell them to go further phew! And there was room ...
The next day we woke to the chirping of crickets ... the day is spent visiting this charming place, starting with the small town of Kut and its pretty steeple, houses of stone, its ancient streets that climb and its beautiful gardens.
The afternoon will lead us to screw over tourism, the port with its ferry traffic, where the yachts are lined up in rows of onions, ass to a bustling wharf ... But also the quieter rear of the village also with beautiful white stone houses.
We will go for a walk on a stony path that overlooks the bay and offers a magnificent view, is there anyone ... Unless the cicadas!
Wednesday, July 14 - Screws - Ubli (Lastovo) - 37,000
No national holiday for us, the course is on the island of Lastovo, which has been our point of entry into Croatia and where we need to exit formalities for our license expires.
We chose to go through Italy by leaving the Montenegro we tried but we forced him to return to Dubrovnik.
En route, we observe a fishing boat, a look seen from above and from a school of fish is reported, the boat casts his nets, speed and circle the bench. A
Ubli, we find ourselves our customs and our police, these two rather nice, and the bittern chief port ... which does not have a problem. We will then anchor in a cute little bay close to our Croatian last night.
Thursday, July 15 - Ubli-Vieste (Italy) - 61000
He barely daylight when we weighed anchor and it will be a nice round navigation by sailing northwest wind of 7-13 knots . There will be less than 12 hours to travel the 61 miles.
Arrive in Vieste afternoon in sweltering heat, we find a certain pleasure joviality Croatian Italian after this period. Holidaymakers are there, the city is buzzing and it is good to walk late at night to enjoy a relatively cool and enjoy an ice cream!
We will stay two days in this good Town of Vieste.
Sunday, July 18 - Vieste - Molfetta - 51,000
We had planned to get to Trani, a town known for its beauty, but on entering the small port, it makes us understand that there is no one place ... No place to drop anchor here nor on the exposed coast.
It is about 5:30 p.m. ET, so we decide to make a night nav and go directly to Brindisi some 80 miles distant. The forecast winds NW 15-20 knots late night but for now, almost nothing. I want to save the engine that has already turned today and we drag ... And then the sky darkens before us, the flashes begin to appear, as change of plan ... There is a commercial port and fishing a little further where it is does it seem possible to anchor.
We enter a little later in the port of Molfetta under a dark sky, not a boat to the mooring area surrounded by boulders ... We are moving forward and enter the port itself, full of fishing boats . A sailboat is docked in the background and we decide to do so. Former
rush to grab our ropes and we drop anchor. It's party time, there are plenty people and music, the boat in question is to explain what the veil and left soon after. We are attracting people ask us where we come from, what is the hardware etc. ...
good but we are no longer with us!
The night will be quiet and nobody will ask us anything. We will leave the following morning under the watchful eye of the Guardia Costiera ... and a more serene sky.
Now we are preparing to join and then it will Brindisi Corfu, another country ...
