Hello,
Sunday, March 14, 2010
Life continues in Sardinia, the month of March, which started with some heat due to the Scirocco, quickly turned cool if not cold. Indeed, temperatures hovered around 26 ° at the beginning of the month, fell 15 degrees in a few days, the snow came to cover the tops of mountains ... We did not have as cold of winter!
The boat was hauled at a splendid day in early care by Massimo Valdes, the head of the yard. We are very happy because the boss and the workers are very helpful and friendly, and they are good professionals.
Every day we go to our site to provide care to our dear Algieba! The hull was very dirty, some places overgrown with small shells and algae ... It is true that it was 4 months he had not moved.
We finally found a small studio to rent close to the port and not far from the site, which is handy.
Note new meeting: Adrien and Gypsy, accompanied their little Bianca, preparing their boat "circumflex", a pretty 35-foot steel ketch, for a short journey in the Mediterranean before going further.
Adrien Switzerland is home Sarde and Gypsy is the Montreal Canadiens. They are very nice and we had several opportunities to share our stories of traveling around a good table, enjoying some local specialties such as asparagus, thistles and other delicacies in jars. They are real ... but backpackers Gypsy has no experience of navigation, Bianca is very little property to his new environment and are ready to sail when the weather is right.

The good weather returned, the work is progressing well on the boat and Thursday, we rented a car to go to Cagliari, to visit our friends on board Vannetais Dam'Marine.
weather is beautiful and we take the long way round, the first step in Lanusei (former capital of Ogliastra now supplanted by Tortoli) where we stop for a little stroll in this pretty little town built on a mountainside .
Then the winding road we leads to Jerzu, where the vines, often located on steep slopes, produce excellent wine.
Then we stop for a picnic near Perdasdeforgu, where we will have a gathering wild asparagus in a pretty steep place. The spring flora (crocus, orchis, lupins, garlic, genet, Asphodel, and other flowers unknown to us ...) is abundant and beautifully colored hills, we hear the water running everywhere.
Then we hit the road and after crossing several old isolated villages, the area is flatter and larger towns at the approach of Cagliari.
parley with Loulou Head of the marina and we had reserved a place for our little car as parking is quite problematic in this great city. It is with pleasure that we find the little family we tell our respective winters.
I will also take this little trip to the capital for me to refuel diesel filters hard to find in Arbatax.
The next day we take the way back by a different route, passing more in central Sardinia. We cross the well Campidano vast plain green and very hilly with very grown mainly cereals and many grasses also.
Then we will start to climb Highlands and we stop for a new picnic in the green grass among flowers near a small creek. We then deal
the mountains of Barbaggia and a break on the road overlooking Lake Flumendosa we will make a new collection of wild asparagus ... This collection is sporty enough for asparagus bushes are often in difficult places access and more they are spicy and it scratched hands!
The road then continues to rise in countless loops, giving us at every turn in magnificent views. After passing the village of Seui where we are trying without much success to photograph a woman in traditional costume, we take a small road running along high ridges of Monte Perda e'Liana right and the mountains of Gennargentu left. They still retain some patches of snow but not for long!
Many cows wander freely along the road in the scrub, there are also horses wandering in this campaign.
Then the vast forest of oaks and Montarbu where we stop for a walk near a lovely fountain.
It then seeks a way to bring us back to Tortoli ... and we lose! It must say that our map is very detailed ... We have to ask several times on our way and make a considerable detour, but eventually we find our land at night.
Past work on the boat will be this week then it will be the relaunch early next week, a little mechanical maintenance (change the engine ... etc), preparing the boat and then to the planned departure in mid April.
soon
